Green Protest Campaign calls for Global Day of Action on October 15th
We are going through the days in our country when arbitrary arrests, abduction of individuals and illegal court sentences, have become the most common means of repression adopted by the authoritarian government of the Islamic Republic of Iran. Such means of repression sadly target our civil society in the harshest and the most organized manner every day.
Unfortunately, while our nation is still mourning the martyrdom of our devoted companions, Hoda Saber and Haleh Sahabi, we are regularly witness to further acts of violence and oppression towards our people by the promoters of tyranny, without anyone within the Iranian authorities acknowledging the occurrence of such never ending cruelties.
Today, after more than 230 days since the abduction of the Green Movement’s companions, Mir Hossein Mousavi, Mehdi Karroubi along with their spouses and with no individual or entities taking any accountability whatsoever regarding the matter, we are once again witness to the abduction of another civil- political activist in Iran:
Kouhyar Goudarzi, the Iranian civil activist, has been subjected to an enforced disappearance for more than 2 months and his mother Parvin Mokhtareh has been illegally arrested ever since, and yet another time, the Iranian authorities have kept silent regarding Kouhyar’s disappearance and all efforts in obtaining information on his whereabouts and wellbeing have been obstructed.
Nonetheless the public opinion clearly holds the Iranian authorities as the only entity accountable for the physical and mental well-being of Kouhyar.
Thus the Green Protest Campaign calls for a Global Day of Action on October 15th 2011 and invites all individuals in different cities across the world to participate at this event in order to defend the rights of Kouhyar Goudarzi and other persons subjected to an Enforced Disappearance in Iran.
